With each CTP (Community Technology
Preview) that Microsoft ships to its beta testers, new sidebar
gadgets are introduced. Many software vendors are now developing
sidebar gadgets that will display useful information from their apps
without the need to run the applications in full screen. Media
playing applications, Flights departures and landings, RSS readers
and more.
Currently, the best place to check for
these sidebar gadgets is Microsoft

If you are trying to get the Windows
Vista Sidebar to run on Windows XP, you will need to get the
following files:
Download Part Pack (Modified and new
ones) From
this location
Download Fixed Run Gadget From
this
location
Download Fixed Slideshow Gadget From
this

Download Fixed RSS Gadget From
this

Download Italian Clock Gadget From
this location
Download Chrome Clock Gadget From
this location
Download WMP Beta Gadget From

Now you need to download
the patch (created by Rafael & Zoronax),
MFC71.dll
and
xmlrw.dll (not every system requires those files). You then
copy the sidebar to C:\Programs\WindowsSidebar. Copy MFC71.dll and
xmlrw.dll into the WindowsSidebar folder, copy the parts either to
Drive:\Programs\WindowsSidebar\Default Parts or to C:\Documents and
Settings\User\Parts. Now Copy the Patch to the WindowsSidebar folder
and execute it.
